CUPBOARD VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:​

 

Food Driver: Help deliver groceries to families within Broward County by emailing Cristina-Cupboard Volunteer Manager, to cmartinez@jfsbroward.org.  Let her know which weekday and time you are available, so The Cupboard match you with a route.  You will pick up the groceries at the pantry: 4703 SW 51ST Street, Bay 4, Davie FL 33314; and drop them at clients’ door. Each client has 2-3 paper bags, including non-perishable and cold items.

 

Warehouse Assistance: Issue bags to Pick Up Clients, pack groceries, and sort donations; at the pantry. For crowd control purposes, volunteers should book their shift online at the following link: https://jfsofbrowardcounty.volunteerlocal.com/volunteer/?id=44087

 

Administrative Support: Computer literate person to support Cupboard staff calling clients to schedule their appointments, go through COVID-19 questionnaire, and dietary restrictions. Above filing documents, data entry, answering the phone, check-in client, among other administrative duties, as needed. 

 

If volunteering is not an option for you during COVID19 times, The DBJG Cupboard has options for you to continue supporting the mission of ending hunger within the Jewish community of Broward County.

 

Food Donations:

Groups and community leaders can organize a food drive of Kosher items. Some of the most needed items are Cereal, Peanut Butter, Jelly,  Mayonnaise, Ketchup, Tuna, Rice, and Beans. Food Drives are rescued by The Cupboard staff at a specific location and coordinated on a daily basis. Individual food donations can be drop off at the pantry: 4703 SW 51st Street, Bay 4, Davie Fl. 33314. Attached a general flyer for you to use as a tool.


Gift Cards:

Gift cards for groceries are gifts that have value for anyone living on a tight budget. Some of The DBJG Cupboard families receive $25 and $50 Gift Cards on a monthly basis, instead of pack bags. That’s why Gift Cards donations are always welcome, and drop off at the pantry: 4703 SW 51stStreet, Bay 4, Davie Fl.


Cash Contribution:

Community members can donate money online at the following link: https://bit.ly/3a2SXzn 92% of cash contributions are used towards Program Services, which includes staple items not received through food drives.

The Food Pantry of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale is in need of the following:

In the pantry: 

  • Create Food Bags: people will be working in stations (up to 8 stations, with 2 people per station) to create bags for people. (twice a week, but anyone can come in any day to do it)

  • Sort food: Sort food and stock the shelves and fridge (daily)

 

Distributing Food:

  • The Pantry has a drive-through system, where people come and drive up, and a bags gets placed in their car/trunk (this happens twice a week)

  • They have staff and some volunteers taking 3-4 of these bags each and delivering them to the senior's doors. (this happens 6 days a week - Sunday-Friday) they call the senior to let them know their bag of food is outside their door.
